This senior role is responsible for driving business growth and strategic client acquisition within the life sciences sector. The Business Development Director will lead efforts to identify new opportunities, build trusted relationships with key stakeholders, and manage the full sales cycle from prospecting to contract close. Working closely with executive leadership and internal subject matter experts, the role involves developing high-value solutions, positioning offerings effectively in the market, and expanding organizational presence across pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device clients. The position requires a results-driven, entrepreneurial mindset, with a focus on revenue growth, account development, and long-term partnerships in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Own and execute business development strategy to generate and close new engagements within pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device organizations.
Build and manage a robust sales pipeline aligned with growth targets and revenue objectives.
Develop and maintain trusted relationships with senior decision-makers, presenting tailored solutions to meet client needs.
Lead proposal development, including RFP/RFI responses, SOWs, pricing strategies, and coordination with internal subject matter experts.
Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory developments to inform strategy and identify opportunities.
Support strategic partnerships and subcontracting initiatives, positioning the organization as a high-value collaborator.
Mentor and guide the business development team, fostering professional growth and performance excellence.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Life Sciences, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
7–10 years of experience in business development, B2B sales, or account management in the life sciences industry, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
Proven track record of consultative selling, closing complex deals, and meeting revenue targets.
Strong knowledge of the life sciences sector, including pharma, biotech, and medical devices.
Exceptional negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills with senior-level stakeholders.
Self-directed, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate in a lean, high-accountability environment.
Experience leveraging CRM systems and LinkedIn for account-based selling and pipeline management.
Willingness to travel across the U.S. to meet clients and attend industry events.
