About This Position
Under direct supervision manages, implements, maintains, monitors, diagnoses, recommends upgrades, documents, and supports the network systems hardware for Local and Wide Area networks, wireless LAN, telecommunications, remote access systems including firewalls, intrusion prevention, vulnerability scanners, and other network diagnostic tools.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, or related field.
OR
- Associate’s degree in computer science, management information systems, or related field.
- Two years of experience in Information Systems.
OR
- Four years of experience in Information Systems.
Preferred
- Understanding of telecommunications hardware, storage, and operating systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot telecommunications hardware, storage, and operating systems, teamwork, time management, and effective communication.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:
- Monitors network traffic usage and performance and proactively diagnoses and resolves problems related to enterprise network operation, network security, and remote access.
- Ensures enterprise network systems meet uptime requirements by reporting and identifying service interruptions through established measurement procedures for scheduled maintenance windows and unscheduled service events.
- Implements scheduled test procedures to verify functionality in accordance with industry best practices compliance standards.
- Performs diagnostics, develops maintenance resolution documentation and communicates to management the overall status of the network on a timely basis.
- Monitors the security of the enterprise network through use of intrusion prevention systems and ensures real-time logging and alerting measures are in place and maintained for proper retention periods.
- Prepares change management documentation and provides planning in compliance with the IT Change Management Policy.
- Develops and maintains extensive documentation for all managed systems including databases, diagrams, reports and other related documents.
- Participates in new product and technology demonstrations and evaluations.
- Participates in all Information Security discussion, reporting and recommendations.
- Participates in and contributes to all disaster recovery projects and exercises.
- Develops maintenance plans and ensures that systems receive updates and remain effective by identifying, planning for and acquiring tools, methodology and procedures for upgrades or replacement of network components through annual budget processes.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and troubleshooting skills;
- Be self-confident, motivated, and disciplined in the delivery of projects and tasks;
- Part of on-call schedule and share coverage with the rest of the networking team.

Salary Range: $33.71-50.56 /hour Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
