Reports To: Sr. Director of Human Resources, full-time, exempt, with a group benefits package.
The HR Generalist is a trusted steward of highly sensitive and confidential employee information, maintaining the utmost discretion while supporting a wide range of human resources functions. This role serves as a primary resource for employees and managers, offering guidance on HR policies, employee relations, performance management, and organizational processes. The HR Generalist helps drive a positive employee experience while ensuring compliance, operational efficiency, and alignment with the organization’s culture and values.
Requirements: Key Responsibilities- Uphold strict confidentiality and protect sensitive employee information in all HR activities.
- Serve as a trusted resource for employees and managers on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Support core HR functions, including but not limited to recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, and data management, assistance with employee discipline(s), and or up to termination.
- Assist with employee relations issues by gathering information, conducting preliminary investigations, and partnering with HR leadership to recommend solutions.
- Administer performance management processes, training initiatives, and employee development programs.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
- Support payroll and benefits processes, including new hire enrollments, changes, and employee inquiries.
- Maintain meticulously accruate employee records and support HR reporting, metrics, and document management.
- Contribute to HR projects such as engagement initiatives, culture-building efforts, and process improvement
- A Preferred applicant will have experience recruiting and hiring diversely-abled candidates
- Full compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws, including ADA and EEO requirements, to support the staffing needs.
Policies & Procedures
- Responds to inquiries related to human resources policies, procedures, and programs.
- Ensures all HR practices align with organizational policy and current employment laws.
- Supports the administration and tracking of employee performance review programs.
- Maintains up-to-date HR documentation, schedules, and personnel records.
- Stays current with federal, state, and local employment laws and reporting regulations.
- Ensures all HR policies and procedures are compliant with legal requirements.
- Prepares and maintains documentation required for government compliance and audits.
- Leads recruitment efforts to fill vacant positions, with a strong focus on diversely abled candidates.
- Develops and enhances cohesive and inclusive hiring processes.
- Educates and influences job seekers on career opportunities and best hiring practices.
- Implements strategies to meet hiring goals, improving the speed and quality of hires.
- Coordinates and may participate in candidate interviews.
- Administers pre-employment screenings, background checks, and reference verifications.
- Plans and conducts comprehensive new employee orientations.
- Supports and may lead all steps in the employment termination process, ensuring compliance and professionalism.
- Maintains thorough and accurate records of all applicants and employee files.
- Organizes and safeguards personnel files in compliance with confidentiality and legal standards.
- Ensures accurate documentation of employment eligibility and onboarding materials.
- Assists in the administration of employee benefits programs.
- Maintains records related to benefits eligibility under applicable laws, including the Affordable Care Act and HIPAA.
- Plays an active role in designing, delivering, and documenting employee training programs.
- Leads efforts in preparing for and presenting content at internal in-service events and other training initiatives.
- Serves as the primary HR liaison for Ft. Carson-based staff.
- Oversees HR functions including hiring, onboarding, training, recordkeeping, and benefits for Ft. Carson employees and those under related contracts.
- Provides Paylocity and system support to managers, offering training or recommending further development as needed.
- This position requires occasional travel using a personal or company vehicle for official business purposes.
Qualifications:
- Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in HR support, coordination, or administration.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and integrity.
- Solid knowledge of HR systems and processes; familiarity with HRIS platforms such as Paycom is a plus.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated initiative in process improvement and a commitment to diversity and inclusion in hiring practices.
- Bilingual (Spanish preferred).
- ASL strongly desired.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Sit, stand, reach frequently, and walk occasionally. May be required to lift/carry - 50 lbs or less occasionally.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Must be 21 years or older to work as an Intern at PDI and pass a pre-hire drug and background screen, and random drug screens that may occur at any time and without notice. Interns under 18 are not allowed to work more than 8 hours per 24-hour period or more than 40 hours per week.
Background and Drug Screen
- PDI is funded by Federal Contracts; therefore, we are required to adhere to federal regulations and guidelines on the Drug Screen and Background Check process.
- Each applicant must complete and pass both the Drug Screen and the Background check to be hired at PDI.
Travel
- Weekly travel is required to Pueblo, CO.
- Occasional other travel as needed.
- Training will be both in Fountain and mainly in Pueblo, CO.
