About This Position
The Hourly Sous Chef plays a key role in keeping the kitchen running smoothly and efficiently. They lead daily prep, support service, and maintain the high culinary standards of the restaurant. With a focus on cleanliness, organization, and food safety, they help guide the kitchen team and set a positive tone. By working closely with staff and management, they ensure clear communication and foster a culture of teamwork and accountability. From checking dishes to mentoring line cooks, they help deliver a consistent, top-quality dining experience.
Operational Responsibilities:
- Work five consistent days per week and complete all required company training.
- Maintain a positive attitude that supports team morale and fosters collaboration.
- Lead by example to help CDPs grow, while supporting productivity, standards, and innovation.
- Keep stations, shared spaces, and staff/equipment areas clean, organized, and presentable.
- Taste, rotate, and track food in all storage areas; report low stock and needed items to the Chef team.
- Use clear verbal and non-verbal communication to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Bring sharpened knives daily and stay prepared for each shift.
- Inspect order quality on delivery days and communicate any issues promptly.
- Assist with restaurant openings or closings as scheduled.
- Minimize waste and promote sustainable practices.
- Confidently operate the POS system as needed.

- Strong culinary skills and attention to detail.
- Positive attitude and ability to maintain high morale.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Professionalism and commitment to representing the company.
- Ability to work efficiently and safely during shifts.
- Texas Food Handler Certificate required.
Working Conditions:
- A typical work week for this position is 40-45 hours. Hours vary based on needs of the market and the department.
- Position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, lifting objects up to 45 pounds, and repetitive hand and wrist movements.
- Exposure to hot, cold, and potentially hazardous equipment is possible.
- Familiarity with office equipment such as phones, computers, fax machines, and copiers may be required.
