EverHaven is a nurse-led, concierge, non-medical personal care agency serving seniors and adults with disabilities. Our CNAs support client dignity, independence, and well-being through compassionate, skilled care in the home while honoring EverHaven’s non-medical scope of practice. You will be supported by RN oversight, clear service plans, and a team that values professionalism, calm communication, and consistent routines.

What You’ll Do (Essential Duties and Responsibilities)1) Personal Care and ADLs
  • Bathe, provide oral hygiene, groom, dress, and toilet clients per service plan.
  • Perform safe transfers, bed mobility, and ambulation using proper body mechanics and approved assistive devices.
2) Health Monitoring and Support
  • Obtain and record vital signs, weights, and intake and output as directed by the RN Supervisor and documented in the service plan.
  • Provide non-skilled support such as emptying drainage or catheter bags only when allowed under PCA scope and documented in the care plan.
3) Medication Reminders and Observation
  • Provide medication reminders only in accordance with EverHaven Medication Support policy.
    • No medication administration
    • No dose preparation
    • No PRN judgment
  • Observe and promptly report changes in skin, mobility, cognition, behavior, or breathing to the RN Supervisor.
4) Documentation and Communication
  • Complete the Daily Caregiver Visit Note with EVV fields and clinical observations by end of shift or within 24 hours.
  • Escalate safety concerns, incidents, and client or family complaints to the RN Supervisor without delay.
  • Participate in care conferences, case reviews, and team meetings as requested.
5) Infection Control and Safety
  • Follow EverHaven infection control and OSHA bloodborne pathogen policies.
  • Use PPE as required and maintain a clean, hazard-reduced environment in the client home.
  • Report environmental or equipment safety issues to the RN Supervisor.
6) Supervision, Mentoring, and Training
  • When assigned, support orientation of new PSS staff by modeling EverHaven standards and safe techniques under RN oversight.
  • Complete required orientation, annual competency review, and at least 12 hours of continuing education or in-service per year (or as updated by EverHaven).
Schedule & Compensation
  • Guaranteed-hours track (program): Per Diem 24 hrs/week or Part-Time 30 hrs/week may be available after onboarding based on client demand, your availability, and performance. Written terms are provided if offered.
  • Overtime: Non-exempt employees are paid overtime in accordance with Maine law (generally time and one-half for hours worked over 40 in a workweek).
  • Travel pay: Mileage reimbursement and paid travel time as applicable per EverHaven Mileage and On-Call Pay Policy.

Benefits begin after 30 days of employment for eligible employees based on role classification and plan eligibility rules (typically tied to average hours worked and job status).

  • Tuition or CEU support for advanced dementia training or related certifications may be available based on performance
Screenings and Other Requirements
  • Employment is contingent on meeting role requirements, including MBCC background check and FBI fingerprinting when required
  • Pre-employment drug screen per EverHaven policy
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance if driving to client homes
  • Immunizations and screenings per EverHaven policy such as flu, Hepatitis B offered, and TB screening
Working Conditions
  • Varied home environments with potential exposure to pets, smoke, and allergens
  • Possible exposure to communicable diseases and body fluids
  • Flexible scheduling including evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional short-notice assignments based on client needs
Requirements: Education and Certification
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Active Maine CNA certificate listed on the Maine CNA Registry
  • Current CPR or BLS per EverHaven policy
  • TB screening or risk assessment per EverHaven policy
Experience (Preferred)
  • At least 1 year CNA experience preferred (home care, assisted living, long-term care, or hospital)
  • Experience with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, or complex chronic conditions strongly preferred
Skills
  • Strong clinical observation skills for early recognition of changes in condition
  • Clear verbal and written communication and accurate documentation
  • Ability to follow RN-developed plans and EverHaven procedures
Physical Requirements (Safe Patient Handling)
  • Ability to perform transfers, repositioning, and mobility support using proper body mechanics and approved assistive devices.
  • EverHaven follows safe patient handling practices: manual patient lifting is generally limited to about 35 pounds under best conditions. Heavier transfers require assistive equipment and/or team assist.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and repositioning.
  • Ability to navigate stairs and small or cluttered home environments.
