About This Position

Coastal Trading Ventures - Transportation Logistics Coordinator

Coastal Trading Ventures (CTV) is a high-volume 3PL and product-preparation operation that has supported ecommerce brands for over 15 years. We specialize in receiving, prepping, kitting, and shipping product at scale primarily into Amazon FBA.

We move hundreds of truckloads per month. Transportation efficiency directly impacts our margins, warehouse flow, and customer experience.

The Role
Were hiring a hands-on Transportation Logistics Coordinator to own domestic freight execution and cost control.

This is not a basic scheduling role. You will manage 200+ LTL and FTL shipments per month, oversee drop-trailer programs, audit freight spend, and drive measurable cost reductions through smarter planning and negotiation.

Freight Optimization & Cost Control (Primary Focus)
  • Analyze freight spend and lane data to reduce overall transportation costs
  • Convert LTL to consolidated FTL where possible
  • Improve pallet density and eliminate underutilized shipments
  • Audit freight invoices and dispute accessorial, re-weigh, detention, and demurrage charges
  • Reduce detention through improved planning and carrier coordination
Shipment Execution & Drop-Trailer Management
  • Plan and execute inbound, direct-to-customer, and Amazon FBA shipments via TMS
  • Own drop-trailer and drop-and-hook programs
  • Coordinate trailer pulls and returns
  • Monitor trailer dwell time and enforce free-time agreements
  • Maintain continuous trailer availability to support warehouse operations
Warehouse & Capacity Coordination
  • Partner with warehouse leadership to maximize pallet counts per truck
  • Align carrier schedules with dock flow and throughput
  • Prevent yard congestion and underutilized loads
Reporting & Process Improvement
  • Track KPIs including cost per load, on-time performance, and trailer utilization
  • Identify and implement process improvements across freight execution
Qualifications - Experience, Skills, Soft Skills
  • 3+ years managing high-volume LTL and FTL transportation
  • Direct experience managing drop-trailer / drop-and-hook programs (required)
  • Proven track record in reducing freight costs through consolidation, negotiation, and auditing
  • Amazon FBA or e-commerce fulfillment experience strongly preferred
  • Strong Excel skills (PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, reporting)
  • Experience with a Transportation Management System (TMS)
  • YMS experience is a plus
  • Highly detail-oriented and process-driven
  • Confident communicator and carrier negotiator
  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced warehouse environment
  • Takes ownership and drives issues to resolution
