Design Director - MetaMask (Transactions)

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Design Director - MetaMask (Transactions) in United States.

This is a high-impact design leadership role at the center of one of the most widely used Web3 wallets in the world. You will lead the design direction for the Transactions product area, shaping how millions of users first experience and continuously engage with decentralized applications. The role blends strategic vision, systems thinking, and hands-on craft leadership to simplify complex blockchain interactions into intuitive, trustworthy user journeys. You will guide teams working across extension and mobile platforms, ensuring consistency, clarity, and usability at scale. Partnering closely with product, engineering, research, and marketing, you will help define how users discover, understand, and confidently transact in Web3. This is a fast-paced, experimental environment where design decisions directly influence global adoption of decentralized technologies.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead the end-to-end design vision for the Transactions product area, ensuring seamless, intuitive, and trustworthy user experiences across extension and mobile platforms.
  • Build and scale design systems, feedback loops, and operational frameworks that elevate craft quality and team effectiveness.
  • Mentor and develop designers, enabling senior ICs to operate autonomously while fostering a strong culture of collaboration and excellence.
  • Partner with product, engineering, research, and marketing to define strategy, align roadmaps, and deliver cohesive multi-quarter initiatives.
  • Drive clarity in ambiguous problem spaces, translating complex Web3 workflows into simple, usable product experiences.
  • Oversee both zero-to-one innovation and optimization of existing user journeys, improving onboarding, activation, and retention flows.
  • Influence broader design culture and standards across the organization through critique, coaching, and leadership in execution.
Requirements:
  • 10+ years of experience in product design, with a strong track record of leading design teams and shipping large-scale digital products.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver complex systems, ideally across consumer-facing or platform products with high user engagement.
  • Strong expertise in systems thinking, interaction design, and UX for technical or data-heavy environments.
  • Experience leading cross-functional collaboration with product, engineering, research, and marketing teams.
  • Demonstrated success mentoring designers and elevating overall team performance and craft quality.
  • Proficiency with modern design tools and workflows, including Figma and design systems practices.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to align stakeholders and drive clear decision-making in ambiguous contexts.
Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation package including base salary, bonus, and equity opportunities.
  • Remote-first flexibility with a globally distributed, collaborative team culture.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage for employees.
  • Opportunity to work on products used by millions in the rapidly evolving Web3 ecosystem.
  • Strong focus on professional growth, learning, and continuous skill development.
  • Inclusive and innovation-driven environment encouraging experimentation and impact.
  • Additional benefits may include wellness support, equipment setup, and learning resources.
