This role sits at the intersection of technical claims expertise, operational leadership, and strategic oversight within a fast-growing, tech-enabled insurance environment. You will lead and develop a team of supervisors and adjusters while ensuring high-quality claims outcomes, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. Acting as a key liaison between internal teams, carriers, and external partners, you will help shape claims strategy and drive continuous improvement. The position requires strong analytical ability, leadership maturity, and a hands-on approach to complex and high-exposure claims. You will leverage data, reporting, and industry best practices to identify risks, improve workflows, and enhance customer experience. This is a high-impact role where your decisions directly influence performance, efficiency, and client satisfaction across multiple programs.
In this role, you will oversee end-to-end claims operations while leading a diverse team of supervisors and adjusters. You will be responsible for ensuring technical accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all claims processes while supporting strategic improvements in performance and service delivery.
- Lead, coach, and manage claims supervisors and adjusters, including hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management
- Oversee claim assignment, ensuring proper workload distribution based on expertise, licensing, and complexity
- Review coverage determinations, reserves, payments, and claims handling decisions for accuracy and compliance
- Handle escalated complaints from clients, insureds, and claimants, ensuring timely resolution
- Conduct claim conferences with carriers, legal counsel, and external vendors
- Monitor high-exposure and sensitive claims within your assigned pending portfolio
- Identify trends, risks, and adverse developments through data analysis and reporting
- Conduct internal audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented
- Present claim performance insights in leadership meetings and roundtables
- Partner with senior leadership to refine processes, KPIs, and operational workflows
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, training programs, and cross-functional projects
This position requires extensive claims experience combined with strong leadership capability and deep technical knowledge of insurance processes and litigation environments. You should be comfortable managing teams, handling complex claims, and operating in a regulated, fast-paced setting.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and claims experience
- 10+ years of insurance claims experience, including litigation exposure
- 5+ years of claims management or supervisory experience
- Strong knowledge of California claims regulations (multi-state experience preferred)
- Active Qualified Claims Manager license in California (or ability to maintain certification)
- Experience in construction liability, general liability (GL/BI/PD), excess, and high-severity claims
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data for decision-making and trend analysis
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical audiences
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and claims management systems
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team development abilities
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a high-volume, complex environment
- Competitive salary range: $140,000 – $160,000 USD
