About This Position
POSITION SUMMARY
The Student Intern will be tasked with completing the Official Map update project during their summer employment with the Township. This position requires skills in urban planning, GIS, public speaking, and policy writing to successfully fulfill all project requirements. The role is crucial in assisting the Department of Community Development as it begins work on the Comprehensive Plan update and determines which projects the Township will prioritize in the coming years. Working under the general guidance of the Community Planner, this role demands initiative and discretion, and performance is periodically reviewed based on completed tasks.
Work is performed during regularly scheduled hours and will involve additional hours, as needed. This role is classified as non-exempt according to the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act.
SELECTION GUIDELINES
The candidate selected for this position is required to have work authorization in the United States and will undergo eligibility verification at the start of their employment. Furthermore, the candidate will undergo a background check, a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening, and must certify adherence to the Township’s Nepotism Policy.
