About This Position

Manager, Architecture

The Manager of Architecture will oversee and drive various facets of project development. This role requires exceptional organizational skills and a knack for managing concurrent tasks with competing deadlines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Act as company representative, fostering strong relationships with internal teams, external clients, consultants, and vendors.
  • Oversee the full design process, including the preparation and coordination of construction documents, ensuring clarity, accuracy, compliance with codes and regulations, and alignment with program requirements, budgets, schedules, and brand strategy.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, consultants, and contractors to resolve technical challenges, optimize design solutions for constructability and cost-effectiveness, and support preconstruction and bidding activities, including RFIs, contractor selection, and scope reviews.
  • Lead permitting and regulatory approvals by coordinating with architects, engineers, and local authorities to secure necessary permits and address agency comments efficiently.
  • Serve as the primary design liaison throughout construction, conducting site visits, reviewing submittals, addressing field conditions, and facilitating clear communication among design, development, and construction teams to maintain design quality, schedules, and budgets.
  • Manage FF&E/OS&E processes, material sourcing, vendor communications, tracking, take-offs, and procurement for interior design and capital improvement projects.
  • Collaborate closely with Tenant Services and Leasing departments to support deals, LPs, and project-related advertising.
  • Implement rigorous quality assurance measures across all project stages to ensure deliverables meet company standards of excellence.
  • Maintain project documentation, tracking systems, matrices, logs, and monthly reports, and produce project and departmental presentations.
  • Provide onsite project oversight, emergency design solutions, and design support for execution, research, and space-planning initiatives.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field, with strong educational knowledge in architectural or design principles.
  • 5+ years of experience in architectural project management or design leadership, preferably on complex, mixed-use developments, with demonstrated success through design production, permitting, preconstruction, bidding, and construction phases.
  • Strong knowledge of California building codes, permitting processes, and construction practices.
  • Proven project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated leadership, self-motivation, and ability to meet deadlines while improving processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organization, and collaboration skills; ability to thrive in high-pressure situations and work effectively with cross-functional teams including construction, development, leasing, and tenant services.
  • Technical proficiency in Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and Procore; working knowledge of Revit, SketchUp, and experience with scheduling software such as MS Project or Primavera.
  • Expertise in technical documentation, constructability review, permitting and regulatory coordination, quality control, and issue resolution.
