Description:

RDTS is seeking a Space Planner with mid-level federal government experience to support the Bureau of Consular Affairs at the U.S. Dept of State in Washington, D.C. This position is full-time and 100% remote, with occasional travel to government sites. Job duties include, but not limited to:

  • Assist Senior Space Planner as required and collects operational data and assists in analyzing facilities relative to present and future space requirements.
  • Project space needs and growth projections for facilities by conducting research and evaluating findings and preparing space plans and recommendations for review.
  • Use (CAD and manual drafting skills to illustrate design concepts and office structural features, counters, processing stations, functional work areas, furniture, partitions, and electrical components.
  • Prepare interior space planning requirements, applying office space use standards, interior architecture planning standards, Americans with Disabilities Act, and Building Code requirements for review.
  • Review interior space requirements based on agency programs and objectives, workflow, agency clientele, budget limitations and growth projections. Prepares documentation of square footage requirements.
  • Develop final office space plan including conventional and systems furniture layouts for approval.
  • Assist agencies with furniture and equipment selection.
Requirements:
  • Active Security Clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture/Planning, Computer Programming, or Interior Design from an accredited university or college.
  • Five (5) years of experience in planning and designing interiors, furniture specifications, and designing space plans incorporating air circulation, lighting, and ADA requirements design.
  • Experience in researching, collecting, and analyzing data; and preparing office or work environment space plans with assistance.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting architectural documents and plans with assistance.
  • Experienced in development of furniture specifications and design.
  • Advanced personal computer skills using spreadsheets and AutoCAD software.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Good entry data skills.
