HVAC Maintenance Technician at Moberly Area Community College (MO) – Moberly, Missouri

The technician is responsible for MACC's HVAC systems.

This is a full-time, 12-month, hourly position with employee health and basic life insurance paid by the college. Required Qualifications:

1. High school Diploma or equivalent;
2. EPA universal refrigerant certification;
3. Minimum two years’ experience in the HVAC field;
4. Missouri state driver’s license, with the ability to obtain a commercial driver’s license, if requested.
5. Knowledge of computer essentials to include Word, Excel and the ability to learn various College related software programs;
6. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Education and/or experience beyond minimum requirements.
2. Knowledge of HVAC computerized systems, preferably Johnson Controls;
3. Knowledge of building systems and plant related equipment;
4. Vocational or AA degree in HVAC Technology;

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Diagnose malfunctions of heating/air conditioning/refrigeration systems and/or components for the purpose of identifying repair/replacement needs necessary to maintain equipment and systems;
2. Install/replace heating/air conditioning/refrigeration and related equipment;
3. Perform repairs and preventative maintenance to various items including refrigerators, air conditioning systems, heating units, etc…
4. Maintain tools, supplies and/or equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of items;
5. Provide recommendations for the purchase of equipment, parts and supplies and upon approval, order equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring the availability of required items;
6. Create business contacts for the purchase of equipment and refrigerant and for the removal of such;
7. Meet with contractors and engineers, as necessary, for future and new installations;
8. Use proper safety practices and recommendations;
9. Prepare and maintain documentation (service records, work performed, install dates, etc…) for all equipment;
10. Respond to all emergency and non-emergency situations, to include nights and weekends, as needed;
11. Responsible for maintaining and transporting equipment at each of the six MACC campuses;
12. Must maintain certification and attend training sessions as necessary;
13. Must possess or have the ability to use and understand the Johnson Controls Metasys computerized heating/cooling system; understanding how the system operates and interacts with the equipment;
14. This position will also be required to perform other maintenance duties, as outlined in the Maintenance job description;
15. Perform other duties as assigned by the Physical Plant Manager or Director of Plant Operations.
