About This Position

Job Overview:

The Surgical Coordinator is responsible for scheduling all patient surgical procedures for the practice at affiliated hospitals and surgical centers for multiple Orthopedic Surgeons.

Travel Requirement:

Location: Jersey City, NJ - travel to Essex and Bergen County satellite offices for coverage, willing to travel regionally within 45 minutes of anchor location

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • At least 2 years experience in a Surgical Coordinating role in a busy multiple physician practice
  • Knowledge of medical terminology desirable, word processing and computer experience

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Working Shift: Monday-Friday
  • Day Shift, 8:00AM-4:30PM
  • Full-Time, 40 Hours Per Week

Essential Functions:

  • Obtaining correct surgical booking information, utilizing EMR, navigating through patient charts, placing PAT orders, following PAT completion, authorizations, acquiring patient PCP and specialty clearances, and scheduling pre-post operative appointments within the practice
  • Constant communication with hospitals, surgical centers, patient clearance providers, practice providers, and patients throughout the process of surgical optimization
  • Excellent customer service skills, problem-solving skills, multitasking, self-sufficiency, detail-oriented, and an effective and clear communicator
