Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Scientist I/II to join our dynamic R&D team. In this role, you will support the development and validation of laboratory-developed tests (LDTs) using LC-MS, Analytical Chemistry, Molecular Biology, or Immunology-based methodologies. This is a hands-on lab position that plays a critical role in driving scientific innovation and operational excellence at Mosaic Diagnostics.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design, development, and validation of LDTs targeting specific analytes in biological samples.
- Perform routine laboratory activities including sample preparation, daily experimental runs, and instrument calibration.
- Collaborate with scientific staff to optimize assay conditions, troubleshoot experiments, and interpret findings.
- Support data analysis efforts to ensure accuracy, reliability, and reproducibility of results.
- Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation of experiments, results, and conclusions.
- Draft standard operating procedures (SOPs), validation protocols, and technical reports.
- Troubleshoot instrumentation and support software and hardware maintenance as needed.
- Contribute to a culture of safety, quality, and compliance in accordance with laboratory standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental goals.
Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Analytical Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field.
Experience:
- 1–5 years of laboratory experience, ideally in assay development and validation.
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Working knowledge of LC-MS, Molecular Biology, Immunology, or Analytical Chemistry techniques.
- Hands-on experience with laboratory instruments, software platforms, and data processing tools.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to design experiments and isolate variables for targeted problem-solving.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Commitment to quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience troubleshooting analytical workflows and optimizing lab procedures.
- Familiarity with CLIA, CAP, and ISO standards and regulatory requirements for LDTs.
- Understanding of sample preparation and laboratory best practices.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of computer use and sitting at a desk.
- Occasionally required to stand or climb stairs.
- Must have visual acuity for close work and focus adjustments.
