Position Purpose
To serve as the first point of contact for walk-in customers, providing exceptional, timely, and knowledgeable service. This role is responsible for maintaining trusted customer relationships, assisting with product orders, coordinating with internal departments, and sustaining showroom organization and inventory levels to support business operations.
Goals of Position
- Deliver fast, accurate, and friendly service at the sales counter.
- Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction through clear communication and timely follow-through.
- Keep the showroom organized, clean, and well-stocked.
- Support internal workflows between sales, shop, and purchasing to ensure smooth order processing.
- Responsibilities
- Open and close the showroom each day, including unlocking/locking doors, handling the cash box, managing lights, and coordinating internal communication to ensure full counter coverage throughout business hours.
- Greet customers promptly, assess their needs, route fabrication requests to the shop, communicate lead times, arrange callbacks or pickups when needed, and maintain clear communication with Central Purchasing and shop staff.
- Finalize sales transactions accurately and efficiently; ensure all relevant customer contact information is collected and attached to orders.
- Maintain showroom cleanliness and stock levels; perform twice-weekly checks to ensure adequate product availability and presentation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Major Challenges
- Managing multiple customer needs during busy periods without compromising service quality.
- Balancing attention to detail in order entry and communication while maintaining speed and efficiency.
- Ensuring smooth handsoff and communication across departments (shop, purchasing, internal team).
Skills and Qualifications
- Preferred: Previous RGA shop experience or industrial distribution industry experience.
- Strong reasoning, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage time and tasks independently.
- Customer-first mindset with professionalism under pressure.
Authority
- No supervisory authority.
- Responsible for own workstation and daily sales counter operations.

Education and Experience
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred: Industry-related experience or familiarity with industrial products.

Physical Demands
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
- Requires alternating periods of sitting, standing, and walking.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, crouch, reach, and climb as needed.
- Must be able to talk and hear clearly.

- Quiet to moderate noise level typical of an industrial sales floor.
- Fast-paced and team-oriented.
- Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles.
