Job Description

Neurodiagnostic Technician Ii

  • POSITION PURPOSE
    • Performs standard Electroencephalograms and Evoked Potential Studies for patients. Prepares test results, transcription, copying, filing and performs other duties as needed.
  • MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED
    • High School or Equivalent (GED)
  • MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
    • 3 months – 1 year
  • LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED
    • ACLS Preferred.
    • Current BLS and/or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or the ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED
    • Training as a Medical Assistant or LPN is desirable.
    • Knowledge of basic medical terminology and clerical functions related to scheduling.
    • Must be able to demonstrate competence with all associated equipment used.
    • Must possess analytical skills.
    • Ability to perform under stress when confronted with an emergency, critical, unusual or dangerous situations, or situations in which work speed and sustained attention are a make or break aspect of the job.
    • Knowledge obtained through training or previous experience in anatomy, physiology, testing and treatment in neurological and cardiac services.
  • PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
    • Independently performs: EEG’s, Brainstem Auditory Evoked Potentials, Visual Evoked Potentials, Somatosensory Evoked Potentials, Autonomic Function Studies.
    • Schedules appointments, by phone or in person, for the Neurodiagnostic providing preparation instructions for testing. Accesses, enters and retrieves information from MIS. Ability to identify, correct and report clerical errors and related problems, current and/or potential, and provide assistance to resolve them.
    • Positive communication skills; ability to successfully interact with all customers and staff and a continuous demonstration of courteous, cooperative and service-oriented manner.
    • Performs clerical functions: filing, distribution, preparing reports for purging EEG records and transcription of test results.
    • Documents patient testing in cross filing system.
