Job Title: Residential Carpenter
Division: Carpentry
Reports To: Foreman
Hourly Range: Competitive Market Range

Summary:
The Residential Carpenter is responsible for constructing, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures made of wood and related materials within residential buildings. This role supports projects ranging from new home construction to remodeling and repairs, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to safety and building standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Framing and Structural Work: Build frameworks for walls, floors, roofs, and other structures in accordance with blueprints and specifications.

Installation: Install and fit windows, doors, staircases, cabinets, siding, drywall, flooring (including hardwood), trim, molding, and related fixtures.

Measuring and Cutting: Accurately measure, cut, and shape wood and other materials using hand and power tools (saws, drills, sanders, etc.).

Material Estimation: Assess project requirements, select appropriate materials, and calculate necessary quantities.

Repair and Maintenance: Inspect and identify damaged structures; perform necessary repairs or replacements.

Safety and Compliance: Maintain a safe and organized worksite, follow OSHA standards, and ensure all work meets building codes.

Collaboration: Work effectively with carpenters, electricians, plumbers, project managers, and clients to complete projects on time and to satisfaction.

Requirements:

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and sketches.

Skilled in precise measuring, cutting, and assembly using a range of hand and power tools.

Solid knowledge of residential construction methods, techniques, and materials (wood, drywall, metal).

Familiarity with building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.

Strong mathematical ability for calculations and estimations.

Soft Skills:

Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

Problem-solving skills to address project challenges.

Physical strength, dexterity, and stamina to perform demanding tasks.

Strong time management and organizational skills.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED required.

2–5 years of residential carpentry experience required.

Completion of a carpentry apprenticeship program preferred.

OSHA 10 Safety Certification required.

Valid driver’s license required for travel to job sites.
