Key Responsibilities:
The Plumbing Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems on a construction site. This includes overseeing crews, interpreting plans and blueprints, scheduling work, ensuring code compliance, and maintaining safety and quality standards. The Plumbing Foreman plays a key role in ensuring the timely and efficient completion of plumbing work within the overall construction project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead a team of plumbers and apprentices on-site.
- Read and interpret plumbing blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications.
- Plan and lay out daily tasks for plumbing crews, coordinating with other trades and supervisors.
- Ensure that plumbing systems (water supply, drainage, venting, gas lines, etc.) are installed correctly and in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
- Inspect completed work for quality and code compliance.
- Maintain proper records of daily activities, material usage, and crew hours.
- Coordinate the delivery and use of plumbing materials, tools, and equipment.
- Enforce job site safety standards and company policies; conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings.
- Train and mentor less experienced plumbers and apprentices.
- Communicate regularly with project managers, general contractors, and inspectors.
- Assist in resolving site issues related to plumbing conflicts, design changes, or schedule adjustments.
- Monitor work progress and report updates to supervisors.
- High school diploma or GED required; plumbing trade school certification preferred.
- Valid plumbing license or journeyman/master plumber certification as required by local jurisdiction.
- Minimum 5 years of plumbing experience in a commercial or industrial construction environment, including 2+ years in a supervisory or foreman role.
- Deep understanding of plumbing systems, materials, installation methods, and relevant codes (UPC, IPC, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and OSHA regulations (OSHA 10 or 30 preferred).
- Physically able to work on active construction sites (lifting, climbing, bending, etc.).
- Proficient in basic computer skills and field documentation tools (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid, MS Office).
- Work is primarily performed on active construction sites, often outdoors or in unfinished buildings.
- Exposure to loud noise, dust, and varying weather conditions.
- Use of ladders, lifts, hand tools, and PPE is required.
- May require overtime or weekend work depending on project demands.
