Pediatric Speech Pathologist at St. Claire Regional Medical Center – Morehead, Kentucky

This position will work directly on our Peds OP team. The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) diagnoses, plans, and directs communication and swallowing efficiency. Determines the need for referral to specialists in medicine, dentistry, education, psychology, sensory, and related areas. Acts as a consultant to medical and other professional personnel based on speech pathology. Assesses, diagnoses, and treats speech, language, voice, and swallowing disorders in patients of all ages. The SLP develops personalized treatment plans to improve swallowing and communication abilities and enhance quality of life. This role involves collaborating with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals to create comprehensive, patient-centered care.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Conduct detailed Evaluations of speech, language, voice, and swallowing disorders using available medical data, standardized tests, and clinical observations.
• Develops individualized, evidence-based treatment programs to address each patient’s communication or swallowing needs based on the patient’s disability, age, and psychosocial needs.
• Implements therapy techniques and exercises to improve patients’ speech, language, cogitative communication, and swallowing abilities.
• Assesses patient progress, adjusts treatment plans, and collaborates with the appropriate healthcare team members to ensure optimal recovery and outcomes.
• Provides education and training to patients and their families or caregivers regarding strategies to support communication and swallowing at home and in daily activities.
• Works closely with referring providers, nurses, other rehab disciplines, and other healthcare team members to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
• Maintains accurate and up-to-date medical records and documentation timely.

Education:
Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.

Experience:
One year of clinical experience preferred.

Licensure/Certification:
Valid Kentucky Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) license required. Certification or in the process of certification with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association required. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 90 days of the hire date required. Valid Kentucky driver’s license (if home health) required.
