Addiction Treatment Activities Therapist at Crouse Hospital – Syracuse, New York

The Addiction Treatment team is hiring an Addiction Treatment Activities Therapist.

Pay Range: $23.50 - $27.30 / hourly

Schedule: Full Time, Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm, other shifts as assigned.

Addiction Treatment Activities Therapist Position Responsibilities:

• Ensures that they cultivate a work climate supportive of the Hospital’s mission, vision and values as noted above.
• Commits to a customer service-oriented culture within his/her area which includes service orientation to work processes, staff customer service and actively participates and supports the development of key customer service outcomes.
• Attends activity therapy work group meetings and in-service training as scheduled.
• Develops and implements activities integrating recovery issues with Expressive Therapies, Skills for Living, Community Awareness, Gross Motor Movement, New Games, and Leisure Education.
• Attends ongoing training and in-services as appropriate to individual staff development and goals.
• Daily documentation of activities and patient progress and participation
• Develop skills in public speaking and presentation, as well as group dynamics.
• Develop an awareness and understanding of safety and emergency procedures, i.e. fire drills, use of program vehicle, use of fire extinguisher, etc.
• Maintain the safety and storage of activity/recreational supplies and equipment.
• Display the ability to deal with conflict appropriately and assertively with both staff and patients.
• Display effective communication skills as it relates to the multidisciplinary treatment teams approach to Addiction Treatment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Addiction Treatment Activities Therapist Position Requirements:

• Bachelor's in Recreation Therapy required.
• Certification as a rehabilitation counselor, CTRS certification preferred
• Will consider Credentialed Alcoholism & Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) or other certification recognized as "Qualified Health Provider" (QHP) in New York State with 5 years paid work experience in an activities program.
