Senior Technical Project Manager (Secret clearance required)

We are seeking a Senior Technical Project Manager to join a mission-critical program supporting the United States Navy. This is a full-time, salaried position requiring an active Secret security clearance and 100% onsite presence in Dahlgren, Virginia.

In this role, you will lead complex technical initiatives that support advanced naval systems and operational capabilities, partnering closely with engineers, program leadership, and government stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with mission objectives.

The ideal candidate brings a strong background managing technical and engineering-focused programs within a federal or defense environment, with the ability to translate mission needs into actionable project plans, coordinate cross-functional teams, and maintain rigorous program oversight. This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in delivering impactful solutions that directly support national defense priorities.

Qualifications
  • Active Secret clearance or higher (Note that the program may not be able to support higher than a Secret)
  • Must be able to commute to the Dahlgren, VA area on a daily basis

  • Bachelors degree in engineering, computer science, liberal arts, or related field; masters degree preferred
  • 10+ years of experience managing complex technical projects
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams
  • Background in virtualization, security system integration, and/or software development
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Primavera)
  • PMP certification is highly preferred but not required
Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex technical projects supporting programs, ensuring alignment with mission objectives, schedules, and contract requirements.
  • Develop and manage project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations for engineering and technical initiatives.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineers, developers, analysts, and government stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between program leadership, technical teams, and government representatives to communicate project status, risks, and milestones.
  • Monitor project performance, identify risks or issues, and implement mitigation strategies to keep deliverables on track.
  • Oversee technical deliverables, documentation, and reporting to ensure compliance with government and program standards.
  • Facilitate project meetings, technical reviews, and status briefings with internal teams and government leadership.
  • Support proposal efforts, program planning, and process improvements that enhance project delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to security requirements and operational protocols while working within a classified or controlled environment.
  • Mentor and guide junior project managers or team leads while fostering collaboration across program teams.

$150,000 - $180,000 a year
