Job Description:
The Accounting Support Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the Accounting and Payroll functions at Tomball Controls. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, performing third layer review of payroll processing, reconciling accounts receivable transactions, and auditing employee benefits data within Workday to ensure accuracy and compliance.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, solid problem solving abilities, and the capability to work cross functionally with HR, Payroll, and Finance teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify employee hours, adjustments, deductions, and earnings as needed.
- Assist in resolving discrepancies identified during payroll audits.
- Reconcile daily bank transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies between system entries and financial records.
- Support month-end close activities by ensuring all Accounts Receivable data is accurate and submitted on time.
- Pull, review, and analyze benefit-related reports within Workday.
- Reconcile benefit enrollments, deductions, and eligibility data for accuracy.
- Validate employee benefit records to identify items requiring updates or corrections.
- Partner with HR and Payroll to ensure benefit changes are processed accurately.
- Maintain organized and accurate documentation related to payroll, Accounts Receivable, and employee benefits.
- Assist with departmental projects, audits, and process improvement initiatives.
- Provide general administrative support to the Accounting & Finance team as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of experience in accounting, payroll support, accounts receivable, or administrative finance roles.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Experience with payroll systems and/or Workday reporting (preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other standard office applications.
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information.
