Summary
Merlin Group is searching for a Vice President (VP) of Marketing who knows the cybersecurity market and is ready to lead, define, and execute Merlin Group’s enterprise-wide marketing strategy to drive brand awareness, demand generation, partner engagement, and revenue growth across public sector and regulated commercial markets. This leader will build and lead a high-performing marketing organization that supports Merlin’s integrated operating model across its affiliates and offerings.
The role blends strategic vision, operational execution, and team leadership, requiring a proven marketing leader who can translate complex, mission-driven technologies into compelling value propositions for government, partner, and industry audiences. The VP of Marketing will serve as a key member of the leadership team, collaborating closely with Sales, Business Development, Product, and Executive Leadership to align marketing investments with business outcomes.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Marketing Strategy & Brand Leadership
- Develop and own the enterprise marketing strategy aligned to Merlin Group’s growth objectives, go-to-market priorities, and long-term vision.
- Strengthen and steward the Merlin brand across affiliates, ensuring consistent positioning, messaging, and visual identity.
- Define and articulate clear value propositions for Merlin’s offerings, partners, and portfolio companies across target markets.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on market trends, competitive positioning, and growth opportunities.
- Lead the evaluation and selection of external marketing and branding partners to support brand architecture and evolution initiatives, as appropriate.
Demand Generation & Growth Enablement
- Lead integrated demand generation initiatives to support pipeline creation, partner acquisition, and revenue growth.
- Oversee campaign strategy across digital, content, events, PR, analyst relations, and partner marketing channels.
- Partner closely with Sales and Business Development to align marketing programs with opportunity development and customer acquisition.
- Establish metrics and dashboards to measure marketing effectiveness, ROI, and contribution to business outcomes.
Public Sector & Partner Marketing
- Design and execute marketing strategies tailored to federal, defense, and regulated market audiences.
- Support partner and ecosystem marketing initiatives, including joint campaigns, events, and co-branded programs.
- Represent Merlin at industry events, conferences, and strategic forums to elevate market presence and thought leadership.
- Ensure compliance with applicable government, procurement, and communications requirements.
Team Leadership & Operations
- Build, lead, and scale a high-performing marketing team across key disciplines (brand, demand, communications, digital, events).
- Establish clear operating rhythms, processes, and performance expectations.
- Manage marketing budgets, agency relationships, and external vendors effectively.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Required
- 15+ years of progressive marketing experience, including senior leadership roles.
- Demonstrated success building and executing enterprise marketing strategies that drive growth.
- Experience marketing complex technology solutions, preferably in cybersecurity, cloud, AI, or national security domains.
- Proven ability to partner with sales and executive leadership in high-growth, matrixed organizations.
- Executive-level communication, storytelling, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
Preferred
- Experience marketing to U.S. federal government, defense, or highly regulated industries.
- Background working within multi-entity or portfolio-based organizations.
- Experience leading rebrands, go-to-market transformations, or high-growth scaling initiatives.
- MBA or advanced degree in business, marketing, or related field.
