About This Position

  • GENERAL SUMMARY
    • Responsible for coordination of overall daily and routine activities of gift shop, including but not limited to: monitoring sales, maintaining appropriate stock levels, maintaining the overall appearance of the gift shop, assisting with purchasing, and managing the administrative functions of the gift shop. Reports to department leadership.
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Assists with the successful operations of the gift shop, including the procurement and sale of merchandise, and the supervision and training of the shops' volunteers.
    • Serves as a resource for personnel regarding specific job functions, promotion of knowledge and communication.
    • Provides departmental orientation and ongoing training and education to volunteers and new hires.
    • Acts to correct observed deviations from expected behaviors and procedures and/or reports such to leadership if beyond scope of authority.
    • Promotes quality customer service and teamwork.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
    • None required.
  • MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
    • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
    • Approximately two to three years of progressively more responsible related work experience, one year at a supervisory level preferred.
    • Professional knowledge of areas of responsibility in order to assist in the planning and implementation of department activities.
    • Ability to perform office management/administrative duties at a level normally acquired through the completion of a one-year post high school business or office management program, or a combination of experience and training.
    • Demonstrates analytical and problem solving skills.
    • Excellent leadership and communication skills, and professionalism necessary to direct and supervise subordinates, and resolve issues related to conflict resolution, operational and system issues.
    • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to assign work to subordinates as well as to deal effectively and courteously with customers and hospital personnel.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software and demonstrated skills in the operation of a cash register and retail software system.
    • Retail experience is a plus.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS
    • Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like.
