About This Position
The Quality Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the company’s Quality Management System and inspection functions to ensure incoming materials and finished products meet established specifications and customer requirements. This position exercises independent judgment and leadership in directing quality systems, inspection activities, corrective actions, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives. Reports to the Director of Manufacturing.
Responsibilities:
• Develop, implement, and maintain the company Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9001 standards
• Oversee the inspection of incoming materials, in-process production, and final product prior to shipment to ensure conformance to drawings, specifications, and customer requirements
• Establish and maintain inspection standards, sampling plans (AQL), and acceptance criteria
• Supervise and provide direction to quality personnel, including Quality Engineers and Inspectors, as applicable
• Review quality documentation including inspection reports, test sheets, nonconformance reports, and corrective action records
• Lead root cause analysis and oversee corrective and preventive action processes
• Coordinate engineering change requests and verify implementation on the production floor
• Conduct and oversee internal audits and vendor audits; coordinate external ISO audits
• Analyze quality data and trends; recommend and implement improvements to reduce defects, scrap, and rework
• Review returned product and customer complaints; communicate directly with customers and suppliers regarding quality issues
• Ensure measuring devices and equipment calibration systems are maintained and properly documented
• Train and mentor employees in quality standards, inspection methods, and quality objectives
• Prepare and present quality performance metrics and reports to management
• Perform inspections when necessary due to business needs
• Additional duties as assigned
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Quality Assurance, Engineering, or related field
• 5–7 years of progressive experience in a QA/QC manufacturing environment
• 2–3 years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 implementation and maintenance requirements
• Experience managing corrective action systems and conducting audits
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Must be able to read, write and speak the English language proficiently enough to communicate with co-workers, management, customers, and suppliers; understand technical documentation; respond to management inquiries; and prepare reports and records
• Experience in a manufacturing environment interacting with a wide array of departments is required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting critical deadlines
