About This Position
Forward Labs is seeking a dependable, clinically knowledgeable, and patient-focused DME Setup Technician / Support Specialist to support operations across our SE Michigan office locations.
This position is primarily responsible for patient equipment setup, education, and support, with a primary focus in Detroit, Auburn Hills, and Flint. As our program continues to expand, some travel to the Bay City and Mt. Pleasant areas may be required to support patient needs. Travel between designated service areas will be determined based on patient scheduling and operational needs. No overnight travel is expected.
The ideal candidate is energetic, organized, comfortable working independently, and committed to helping patients confidently and correctly use their prescribed sleep therapy equipment.
Candidates with respiratory therapy credentials or prior clinical experience are strongly preferred to enhance patient safety, education, and overall quality of care.
Key Responsibilities
Primary Function: Patient Education & Clinical Support
- Provide hands-on education for patients receiving CPAP/BiPAP Devices and supplies.
- Demonstrate proper device usage, maintenance, troubleshooting, and cleaning.
- Conduct in-person setup appointments throughout the designated service area.
- Utilize clinical knowledge to support patient adherence and therapy success.
- Act as a resource for patients with questions or challenges regarding their treatment.
Secondary Functions: DME & Operational Support
- Process and manage DME orders (CPAP/BiPAP equipment, masks, tubing, accessories) in Salesforce
- Maintain and track inventory to ensure equipment is clean, operational, and ready for use
- Document all patient encounters and DME activity in the EMR and Salesforce
- Assist with insurance verification and prior authorizations for DME services.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to maintain efficient patient flow and ensure compliance
- Perform additional office or clinical support duties as needed
Travel Requirements
- Daily/Weekly local travel as needed
- Support patient needs at our Flint, Auburn Hills and Detroit, MI locations (Based on patient scheduling)
- Reliable transportation and consistent punctuality for scheduled appointments are required
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- RT licensure preferred but not required; strong clinical or patient-facing experience is highly valued.
- Experience in DME, respiratory therapy, sleep medicine, or a healthcare setting preferred.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and patient-education skills.
- Highly organized and detail oriented.
- Comfortable working independently and within a mixed onsite/remote support model.
- Familiarity with EMR systems and Salesforce is a plus
