This is a foundational leadership role responsible for building and scaling the People Operations function at a high-growth organization entering its next stage of expansion. The Sr. Director, People Operations will design and implement the systems, processes, and infrastructure that define a best-in-class employee experience, while ensuring operational excellence and compliance across all HR functions. Acting as the first senior HR leader in the organization, this role blends strategic leadership with hands-on execution across HR operations, compensation, benefits, and employee lifecycle management. The position partners closely with executive leadership to shape organizational design, workforce planning, and company culture. It requires a strong builder mindset, capable of creating scalable programs that evolve with the business. This is a highly visible role with direct impact on how the company attracts, develops, and retains talent at scale.
Lead the design and execution of the People Operations function, building scalable HR infrastructure and programs that support company growth and employee experience.
• Build and optimize core HR systems including HRIS, payroll, benefits administration, and people analytics infrastructure
• Design and lead compensation and benefits strategy in partnership with Finance and executive leadership, ensuring market competitiveness and equity
• Oversee the full employee lifecycle including onboarding, performance management, development, engagement, and offboarding processes
• Develop scalable performance management, feedback, and career development frameworks that support organizational growth
• Act as a strategic advisor to executives and managers on organizational design, workforce planning, and employee relations
• Manage external partners such as benefits brokers to ensure cost-effective, compliant, and competitive offerings
• Establish people data and reporting systems to support decision-making, compliance, and workforce insights
• Drive culture-building initiatives that strengthen engagement, inclusion, and manager effectiveness across the organization
Experienced People leader with a strong background in building and scaling HR/People Operations functions in high-growth environments.
• Proven track record (8–12+ years) in People Operations, HR leadership, or HR Business Partner roles, including building programs from the ground up
• Strong expertise in HR systems, payroll, HRIS platforms, and scalable people infrastructure design
• Deep understanding of compensation strategy, benchmarking, and total rewards design, including geo-based compensation models
• Experience partnering with executive leadership on organizational design, workforce planning, and change management
• Strong knowledge of U.S. employment law, compliance, and multi-state HR practices
• Demonstrated ability to design and scale performance management and talent development frameworks
• Exceptional communication, influence, and stakeholder management skills across all organizational levels
• High emotional intelligence, with a balance of empathy, data-driven thinking, and business orientation
