Position Overview: Under direct supervision, perform Sampling Technician job functions as assigned by Contractor. Typical job responsibilities include technical accuracy and completeness to ensure current and relevant technical quality with industry requirements and updates. Interface directly and support multiple groups and department. The specific work assignment may include duties or activities in one or more of the following areas, in addition to other duties as assigned:

  • Sampling of all types of media including, but not limited to, air, ground water, soil metal, coupons, oil, and potentially hazardous materials of process equipment
  • Prepare sampling forms
  • Groundwater sampling/measurements
  • Packing and shipping samplers in accordance with site procedures
  • Laboratory compliance, maintenance, shipping/receiving of samples – both regulated and non-regulated shipments
  • Project planning and coordination with customers and ensure work packages comply with on-site sampling and field procedures
  • Client communication in relations to sampling, daily objectives
  • Compliance and Materials and Testing Equipment (M&TE) program, as required by customer
  • Troubleshooting, repairing, and testing equipment
  • Calibration of equipment, prepare supplies, review documentation
  • Assisting with and completing schedule of deploying equipment and any necessary testing
  • Maintain and ensure accurate inventory of bottles, chemicals, and other supplies
  • Download of pressure transducer data
  • Data entry and other job relates duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • 1 ½ years’ experience in field of discipline
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Basic knowledge of EPA, DOE, state and local environmental regulations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, detailed oriented, and capable of working independently and in a team environment
  • Must possess a DOE “L” clearance or the ability to obtain a DOE “L” clearance

Working Conditions: Tasks may require the technician to wear respirator and other personal protective equipment (PPE). Meet site-specific fit for duty physical requirements, as well as obtain any additional regulatory medical clearances (i.e. DOT, HAZWOPER) as required to support projects.

Work in an environmental restoration atmosphere (outdated and/or abandoned facilities or industrial field environments). May also work at off-project sites representing the organization at various types of locations throughout the community for business purposes. Potential exposure to equipment movement hazards, dangerous chemicals/solvents or hazardous and radioactive materials if proper safety procedures are not followed.

Ability to perform sedentary to light work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally (any exertion of force/lifting greater than 45 pounds requires usage of a two person “buddy system”), non-repetitive, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly; repetitive; performing such activities as lifting, lowering, carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, walking, grasping, kneeling, stooping, reaching.
