About This Position
Northern Manufacturing, a leader in custom stainless steel fabrication, is seeking a motivated and dependable Shipping Technician to join our first shift team. First shift schedule is Monday-Friday, 6:00am-3:30pm.
This is a hands-on role in our production shop, not an office position. This individual will be responsible for preparing finished parts for shipment, including building crates and skids, packaging materials, and loading trucks. The right candidate is comfortable working with tools, operating a forklift, and supporting the team to get jobs out the door safely and on time.

- Prepare finished products for shipment, including verifying parts and organizing outgoing orders
- Build wooden crates and skids; band, wrap, and secure materials for transport
- Load and unload trucks using a forklift (tow motor)
- Complete shipping documentation including bills of lading, packing lists, and tracking information
- Work within shipping systems (RF scanners, ERP/shipping software)
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shipping and receiving area
- Follow all safety procedures and operate equipment safely
- Support other production areas, including finishing, as needed to meet customer deadlines
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting
- Use of hands and arms for handling materials and operating tools
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with moderate to high noise levels
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in shipping, manufacturing, or material handling preferred
- Carpentry experience and comfort using power tools (saws, nail guns, etc.)
- Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
- Strong attention to detail and organization
- Clear communication and a team-first attitude
- Self-motivated and dependable
- Ability to obtain and maintain a forklift (tow motor) license
