DOT Safety Manager

Schedule - Monday-Friday 7:30AM-4:00PM

Position Summary

Findlay Tall Timbers Distribution Center is seeking an experienced DOT Safety Manager to lead and manage our Safety Department while ensuring full compliance with all applicable Federal and State regulations. This role is critical in promoting a strong safety culture, reducing risk, and preventing accidents, injuries, and other loss events across our transportation operations.

The ideal candidate is a confident safety professional with strong regulatory knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead safety initiatives across drivers, maintenance, and operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, EPA, OSHA, and applicable State regulations
  • Maintain accurate driver qualification, drug and alcohol, and records of duty status files
  • Audit logs and initiate refresher training or corrective action as needed
  • Ensure vehicle maintenance, inspection, and roadside inspection records are properly maintained
  • Report vehicle accidents and lost-time injuries to company leadership
  • Lead investigations of serious or reportable accidents and implement corrective actions
  • Develop, revise, and communicate safety policies, procedures, and regulatory updates
  • Chair quarterly safety committee meetings and track follow-up actions
  • Coordinate and deliver driver and associate safety training
  • Manage the company safety awards program
  • Provide safety and loss-prevention recommendations across departments
Qualifications & Skills
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive safety experience; at least two (2) years in motor carrier safety
  • Strong knowledge of Federal and State transportation regulations
  • Above-average written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
  • Strong time management, organization, and follow-through skills
  • High ethical standards with consistent and fair application of policies
Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond calmly in high-pressure situations
  • Prolonged sitting with occasional lifting, bending, kneeling, or crouching
  • Office-based role with occasional field or outdoor work
  • Low to moderate noise levels; occasional evening or weekend hours
