About This Position
Job Summary
Southwind Construction Services LLC is seeking Construction Superintendent is responsible for the overall coordination, supervision, and execution of construction activities on assigned projects. This role ensures work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract documents, building codes, and quality standards. The Superintendent leads jobsite operations, coordinates subcontractors and trades personnel, manages documentation, and maintains communication with the project team, clients, and inspectors to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Field Management
- Lead, motivate, and organize all jobsite activities and trades personnel to ensure efficient project execution.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of construction techniques and apply the most efficient methods for completing project tasks.
- Make timely field decisions while understanding the impact on project outcomes, budgets, schedules, and company reputation.
- Monitor workmanship to ensure all work meets contract requirements and industry quality standards.
- Stay actively involved in all project activities to anticipate issues, resolve conflicts, and maintain project momentum.
- Direct subcontractors and trades personnel while maintaining a collaborative and professional jobsite environment.
Project Mobilization & Planning
- Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract requirements prior to project mobilization.
- Coordinate project startup activities including jobsite setup, temporary facilities, permits, compliance postings, and environmental controls.
- Establish project layout, grades, and dimensional controls, utilizing survey instruments or coordinating with third-party survey services when required.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager, Scheduler, Quality Control Manager, and subcontractors to develop and implement project schedules.
- Assist with establishing project budgets and cost breakdowns for labor, materials, and equipment.
- Ensure all compliance requirements including EEO, prevailing wage, and labor notices are properly posted and adhered to.
Safety Management
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across all jobsite operations.
- Serve as Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) when required.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EM385-1-1, and company safety policies.
- Conduct weekly toolbox safety meetings and maintain documentation.
- Monitor jobsite housekeeping, equipment safety, and PPE compliance.
- Investigate and report accidents according to company policies and coordinate emergency response when required.
- Ensure jobsite security and restricted access protocols are maintained.
Construction Document Control
- Maintain current sets of construction drawings, specifications, and approved material submittals onsite.
- Manage redline drawings and as-built documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Document daily project activities including progress, inspections, site conditions, and communications.
- Maintain daily reports, safety reports, inspection records, visitor logs, and equipment reports using Procore or other documentation systems.
- Photograph job progress regularly to support documentation and reporting.
Permitting & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure all required project permits are obtained and posted.
- Coordinate utility locates, dig permits, burn permits, and environmental compliance permits.
- Ensure subcontractor permits and approvals are secured prior to work commencement.
- Maintain compliance with SWPPP and other environmental regulations when applicable.
Scheduling & Progress Tracking
- Manage day-to-day jobsite activities to maintain project schedule milestones.
- Develop and maintain a weekly 30-Day Look Ahead Schedule.
- Coordinate scheduling with subcontractors to ensure proper sequencing of work.
- Support development and updates of the master project schedule (Primavera P6).
- Participate in project progress meetings and provide schedule updates to project stakeholders.
Cost Management
- Monitor labor, material, and equipment costs to ensure alignment with project budgets.
- Review job cost reports with the Project Manager regularly.
- Maintain proper inventory control of tools, equipment, and materials.
- Coordinate procurement and delivery of materials to maintain project progress.
- Protect and manage company equipment, vehicles, and tools.
Quality Control
- Ensure all work complies with construction documents, specifications, and quality standards.
- Coordinate preparatory meetings, inspections, and testing activities with the Quality Control Manager.
- Schedule third-party testing agencies and inspectors as required.
- Ensure all quality inspections and test results are documented.
- Manage phase, pre-final, and final inspections.
Jobsite Coordination & Communication
- Maintain strong communication with the Project Manager, Quality Control Manager, Scheduler, and other project team members.
- Coordinate subcontractor activities to ensure efficient workflow and prevent conflicts.
- Maintain positive working relationships with clients, inspectors, architects, and subcontractors.
- Provide daily updates and escalate project issues to management when necessary.
- Participate in project progress meetings and client coordination meetings.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and timely daily reports documenting jobsite activities, progress, and issues.
- Complete timecards, equipment reports, stop/start work reports, and material tracking documentation.
- Track subcontractor progress and document schedule impacts.
- Maintain electronic and hard-copy project files throughout the project lifecycle.
Project Closeout
- Manage punch list completion and coordinate final inspections.
- Compile redline as-built drawings and documentation for final submission.
- Ensure all project closeout documentation is completed and submitted.
- Coordinate with project team members to finalize project turnover and client acceptance.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or vocational certifications in occupational safety and health, or related field.

- Blood Borne Pathogen
- First Aid/CPR
- Scaffolding Safety Training (Competent Person)
- Aerial Work Platform Safety Training (Competent Person)
- 30 Hr. OSHA Construction Safety and Health Training
- OSHA 8-Hour HAZWOPER
- ANSI/ASSE Z359: Fall Protection (Competent Person)
- OSHA Confined Space Entry Training for Construction
- 40-Hour EM 385-1-1 Hazard Recognition Course
- Hazardous Communication Training
- Level 1 Anti-Terrorism Training
Required Qualifications
- Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a drug and breath alcohol test, along with a Motor Vehicle Record check.
- Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.
- Strong understanding of construction plans, specifications, and contract requirements.
- Knowledge of building codes and regulatory standards.
- Demonstrated leadership and jobsite management experience.
- Experience coordinating subcontractors and managing trades personnel.
- Ability to forecast project challenges and implement proactive solutions.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience using construction management software (e.g., Procore) preferred.
- Ability to read survey layouts and manage project dimensional controls.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting federal government contracts preferred.
- Current Public Trust clearance
