You’ll serve as a clinical leader and liaison—coordinating staffing, workflow, patient experience initiatives, and departmental operations—while continuing to provide direct patient care. This role is ideal for an experienced Cath Lab RN who is passionate about leadership, operational excellence, and delivering top-decile outcomes in patient safety and quality.

Compensation: Starts at $36.38 and is commensurate with education, experience, certification, and internal equity
Status: Full-Time

What You’ll Do as a Charge Nurse – Cath Lab Clinical Leadership & Shift Oversight
  • Lead and oversee patient care delivery during assigned shifts.

  • Coordinate daily staffing, workflow, physician engagement, and patient throughput.

  • Delegate responsibilities and ensure safe, efficient care delivery.

  • Serve as administrative lead in the absence of the Manager/Director.

  • Monitor overtime, call usage, productivity, and low census management.

  • Act as liaison between Cath Lab, physicians, other departments, supply chain, and vendors.

Direct Patient Care
  • Provide direct and indirect nursing care that meets psychosocial, physical, and restorative needs.

  • Administer medications, initiate IVs, perform bedside procedures, and assist with physician-directed treatment regimens.

  • Assess and monitor patient conditions, responding promptly to changes or emergencies.

  • Develop individualized plans of care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.

  • Provide discharge planning, education, and counseling to patients and families.

Quality, Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, hospital policies, and nurse practice standards.

  • Support patient safety protocols, radiation protection standards, infection control, and hazardous material compliance.

  • Participate in service recovery, risk management reporting, and patient experience initiatives.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EHR consistent with licensure and regulatory standards.

  • Demonstrate fiscal stewardship in resource utilization and charge entry.

Team Development & Culture
  • Serve as a role model and superuser for equipment and clinical workflows.

  • Assist with onboarding, competencies, staff education, and performance improvement initiatives.

  • Support policy review and workflow optimization.

  • Promote a healthy, patient-centered work environment.

  • Provide feedback to leadership regarding staff development and orientation progress.

  • Attend and participate in departmental meetings.

Qualifications Minimum Education
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program required

  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing required

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years of Cath Lab experience highly preferred

  • Demonstrated increasing responsibility in hospital nursing practice required

Licensure & Certifications
  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of North Carolina

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association required at time of hire

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within one (1) year of hire

  • Preferred: National certification in cardiovascular or critical care nursing (e.g., CV-BC, CCRN)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills

  • Ability to lead and oversee nursing practice within scope of licensure

  • Knowledge of Cath Lab workflows, invasive cardiology procedures, and patient care pathways

  • Ability to communicate effectively within the chain of command

  • Strong organizational and delegation skills

  • Commitment to patient-centered care and service excellence

  • Ability to adapt to changing clinical priorities and emergency procedures

  • Demonstrated accountability and professionalism

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift, position, push, pull, and/or transfer patients weighing 50+ pounds

  • Prolonged standing, walking, and procedural support (8+ hours per shift)

  • Frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and reaching

  • Manual dexterity for clinical procedures and equipment handling

  • Near visual acuity for detailed clinical work

Work Environment
  • Regular exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious materials

  • Frequent exposure to electrical/mechanical equipment and hazardous materials

  • Exposure to ionizing and non-ionizing radiation

  • Requires flexibility for irregular hours, call coverage, weekends, holidays, and emergencies

  • Fast-paced, high-acuity cardiovascular procedural environment
