Responsibilities
The nature of this role is to help prevent damages. The Damage Prevention Specialist works as a liaison to the homeowner and/or contractor and the cable company.
- Practice safe dig practices in accordance to 811 dig law
- Visit active job sites in a company provided vehicle to communicate to contractors or homeowners about safe dig practices in accordance to 811 dig law
- Facilitate fiber and coax marking corrections and updates as needed
- Provide quality checks on utility markings
- Accurately complete detailed documentation of daily activities
- Assist in identifying marked utilities, structures and maps and in the field
- Perform operator level maintenance on assigned company tools and equipment as required
- Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with contractors, homeowners, and team members
- Comfortable working independently in the field and solving problems as they arise
- Willingness to work outdoors in all seasons and weather conditions
No prior utility locating experience required — we provide training
Experience in utility location, damage prevention, or knowledge of 811 dig laws and safe excavation practices is a plus, but not requiredWe welcome applicants looking to start a new career in the utility locating industry
