Job Description Summary
As Enterprise has continues to grow in size and complexity, so has our need for a robust tax and compliance function. Enterprise is happy to announce our search for a newly added position of Senior Manager, Tax & Compliance. The Senior Manager, Tax & Compliance will join Enterprise's corporate finance team and report to the Director, Tax & Compliance. This position will play a significant role in all aspects of Enterprise's corporate tax and compliance processes to ensure that the organization complies with Federal and State regulations. This position is also responsible for reviewing the organization's corporate tax provisions, tax true-ups, Federal and State income tax return filings, and Form 990s by collaborating and supporting the Accountant III, Tax & Compliance. Further, the position will assist the Fund Investment Reporting and Management team (FIRM) with tax questions and issues on over 100 Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) partnership tax returns. This position requires knowledge of IRS income tax rules and regulations, excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and computer skills in addition to the ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced, complex, team-oriented environment.Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Assist the tax team and outside service providers with preparing and documenting all required corporate tax returns, including the year-end corporate tax provision, filing of Federal and State tax returns, true-up of provision and final tax returns, and preparation of Form 990s.
- Prepare and update tax process narratives detailing the step-by-step preparation of the aforementioned tax filings.
- Assist the tax team with process improvements to build a more effective and efficient tax function, including tax planning as needed and organizational structure analysis.
- Manages the external tax compliance and projects calendars with the Accountant III, Tax & Compliance.
- Review extension calculations and quarterly estimated tax payments.
- Interact with the tax team, business unit finance leaders and various government tax authorities to help resolve certain tax, compliance, or business license-related issues as they arise.
- Assist with the Fund Investment Reporting and Management team (FIRM) with over 100 Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) tax returns/questions as needed.
- Assist the development finance team with tax return review and other tax inquiries
- Assist the Director, Tax & Compliance with various strategy and structuring initiatives.
- Research new tax guidance and tax questions as they arise and keep the Director, Tax, and Compliance abreast of new guidance that may impact Enterprise.
- Draft technical tax memoranda to document tax positions for tax files and the board.
- Review corporate and personal property returns prepared by the Accountant III, Tax & Compliance.
- Assist the legal department with the information needed for various state registrations and licenses.
- Serve as a collaborative member of the Enterprise team that challenges the status quo and strives for overall process improvements. Work with other members of the team and organization to make recommendations to improve business and communication processes effectiveness for the organization as a whole.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required.
- Master's degree in taxation is a plus.
- CPA or Enrolled Agent certification or actively working towards obtaining either preferred.
- At least 6 years of experience in corporate and partnership tax with experience working in either a corporate tax and compliance function and/or public accounting.
- Knowledge of tax and compliance laws surrounding for-profit and not-for-profit organizations, including understanding tax issues related to partnerships, corporations, and related parties.
- Experience navigating complex tax structures
- Experience preparing and reviewing Form 1120s, 1065s, and 990s.
- Experience researching complex tax issues and formally communicating recommendations and conclusions.
- Knowledge about multi-company and multi-state income tax calculations, state apportionment rules, and an understanding of estimated tax rules.
- Knowledge of ASC740 requirements.
- Ability to manipulate, reconcile, and analyze large datasets from multiple sources (ERP systems and other software) in excel.
- Mastery of excel XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, and SUMIFS to build flexible, automated workbooks and reconcile financial and tax data.
- Proven ability to use data validation tools to ensure the accuracy of complex, multi-state tax workpapers.
- Strong financial, analytical, organizational, and quantitative skills.
- Ability to adapt competing priorities to meet external and internal deadlines.
- Must be highly motivated, able to work independently and as a team, and possess strong written and oral communication skills.
- Must demonstrate strong ethics and professionalism in interpersonal relations and work as an effective team member.
- Experience with accounting systems is preferred; experience with Workday and Adaptive is a plus.
Salary Transparency
You will be joining a team of talented professionals motivated by serving the community and addressing the need for affordable housing.
Enterprise offers a comprehensive total rewards package for you and your family. The pay range for this position is $105,000 – $130,000. The salary range represents the low and high end of what may be paid for this position. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the pay range, and compensation decisions may be influenced by a variety of factors, including skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
