About Us
UOE has been helping people get things done since 1983, and today, we’re one of the UK’s leading independent stationery and Post Office retailers. Our stores are bustling hubs of the community, providing expert service, top-quality stationery, and essential Post Office services.
We’re growing across London and the Home Counties, with the takeover of 30 new Post Offices. We’re excited about the future for us, our customers, and for you! Join us to lead your local branch to success.
The Role
Reporting into the Area Manager, the Retail Team Lead will help deliver a fast, friendly, and expert customer experience every single day. If you thrive leading a team in a busy retail environment, enjoy driving sales, and are quick to learn about new products and services, this could be the perfect role for you.
While Post Office experience is nice to have, it is not required, your main focus will be leading the retail team.
What You’ll Do:
Manage and motivate your team of retail assistants, ensuring they have everything they need to succeed and achieve 5* reviews.
Lead by example, providing outstanding customer service with a friendly and professional approach.
Be accountable for all cash handling, payment processes, and store security/key holding.
Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of retail products and services, bringing your team up to speed as new items are introduced.
Drive store sales targets by upskilling and supporting your team in sales training, resulting in increased revenue and customer satisfaction.
Ensure the store adheres to product placement and replenishment guidelines, maintaining an organised, clean, and welcoming store.
What We’re Looking For:
Proven leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate your team.
Retail experience is essential, minimum 4 years preferred, with significant people management experience.
Track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and driving operational excellence.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with a strong focus on delivering exceptional customer service.
Strong decision-making abilities and the capacity to handle challenging situations effectively.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
Right to work in the UK for at least 12 months from your start date.
Ability to lift and carry up to 12kg.
Ability to pass an enhanced DBS check.
Post Office experience is a bonus but not mandatory.
What We Offer:
Full-time, permanent role with competitive pay & government-recommended pension.
Comprehensive training and support from your Area Manager and our Head of Retail.
Fast-track career progression, we love to promote from within.
A fun, friendly, and supportive team environment.
Weekend shifts on Saturdays and Sundays, as the branch operates 7 days a week.
Occasional coverage at nearby stores within 15–30 minutes travel.
