Description
The Program Coordinator and Advisor will support Project ICARO - focused on revising the Single Subject Credential Program to center linguistic justice and inclusion. Project ICARO’s primary purpose is to increase the number of Latiné, Asian American, and Native American Pacific Islander (AANAPI) secondary school teachers prepared to support the learning of emergent plurilingual students in secondary education. Project ICARO is a Department of Education-funded, five-year grant in the Department of Secondary Education at CSUF. The CSUF Department of Secondary Education offers programs for those who want to be prepared for a career in teaching a single subject, typically middle and high school. The Program Coordinator and Advisor will specifically support student-facing events and support for Project ICARO.
*Please be aware that funding for this position is awarded through a Grant/Contract over a specified period. Employment for this position beyond current Grant/Contract funding is contingent upon continued funding or new Grant/Contract.
Essential Duties- Plan for and lead all student Community of Practice sessions for all cohorts (approximately 1 Community of Practice session a month for each cohort). Cohort 3 will begin Fall 2026.
- Provide support, guidance, and mentorship for ICARO Student Assistant.
- Provide support for all students participating in Project ICARO. This may include individual meetings and communication.
- Support the Project ICARO recruitment coordinator in specific recruitment and retention efforts.
- Support planning and logistics for other Community of Practice sessions (Mentor Teachers, Clinical Coaches) and ICARO events.
- Additional project planning and logistics, including supporting the Project Coordinator as they work with ASC.
- Support research efforts as needed and time allows.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrated positive attitude and proactive, energetic approach to work, grounded in highly ethical practices and a commitment to openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.
- Demonstrated interest in curriculum and teaching, particularly in linguistically inclusive learning environments.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively and work as part of a team with university students, PK–12 teachers/partners in local school districts, and CSUF faculty.
- Experience supporting and/or working with university students, with an emphasis on bilingual education and linguistic inclusion/justice.
- Experience with public speaking, outreach, and recruitment (e.g., presentations, tabling, classroom visits, information sessions, or community events).
- Preferred: Spanish Bilingual proficiency
EDUCATION:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Prolonged sitting in front of computer. Walking, talking, hearing, pulling, bending, may carry 10-15 pounds of objects/material, not exposed to extreme noise level, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, taste or smell.
