About This Position

Description:

Training Delivery & Curriculum Facilitation

  • Facilitate HHSC-approved Core, Mental Health First Aid, and Supplemental Peer Specialist Training to individuals seeking certification.
  • Deliver instruction in-person and via telehealth platforms, ensuring accessibility and engagement.
  • Promote SAMHSA-aligned recovery principles throughout the learning experience.
  • Provide culturally responsive, trauma-informed instruction tailored to diverse learners.

Trainee Support & Development

  • Foster a respectful and inclusive environment where lived experience is honored.
  • Support trainee progress through coaching, feedback, and real-time clarification of course materials.
  • Maintain open communication with participants before, during, and after training sessions.
  • Track trainee attendance, participation, and completion status.

Program Support & Quality Assurance

  • Assist with the collection and review of pre/post assessments, evaluations, and satisfaction surveys.
  • Submit documentation and training records in accordance with HHSC guidelines and internal procedures.
  • Participate in curriculum reviews, updates, and training of trainers (TOT) as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Training Institute Program Manager to ensure training fidelity and effectiveness.
Requirements:

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certification as a Recovery Support Peer Specialist (RSPS) or equivalent credential within six months of hire
  • Minimum of one year of experience in social services, substance use disorder support, or a related field.
  • Lived experience in recovery or familiarity with recovery communities
  • Experience working with youth in recovery, behavioral health, education, or social service
  • Training in peer recovery coaching or a related discipline.
  • Knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations regarding substance use services and peer recovery models.
  • Experience in program development, supervision, and performance evaluation.
  • Must have a valid Texas driver license, a minimum of six (6) years of driving experience, and a clean driving record.
  • Applicants must be twenty-three (23) years of age or older to comply with Rise Recovery’s insurance requirements.
  • Must maintain automobile insurance coverage, be able to travel as needed, and be able to meet on a consistent basis the driving record requirements of Rise Recovery’s auto insurance carrier if personal vehicle is driven during company business.
  • Commit to ethical responsibilities, including maintaining confidentiality, establishing appropriate boundaries, and avoiding dual relationships with individuals served.

Preferred

  • Certification as a Peer Support Supervisor (PSS)
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, education, or a related field
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain organization in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
  • Ability to relate respectfully to individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements to complete SAMA and CPR training including lifting up to 12 lbs. and supporting up to 55 lbs.; bending, stooping, and getting on and off the floor without assistance.
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit for short or long periods of time.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Able to operate standard office technology, equipment and utilize office supplies.

Working Conditions

  • Flexible setting including virtual instruction, classroom training, and occasional travel.
  • Regularly scheduled hours may vary during periods of workload fluctuation.
  • Occasional night, weekend and holiday hours may be necessary to support additional recovery programming and/or Rise Recovery events.
