Job Description

Summary:

The Supply Chain Planner owns end-to-end planning decisions for assigned categories/items across furniture retail supply chain operations, with a focus on inventory positioning, inbound flow, and inter-DC execution. The role independently analyzes forecasts, inventory, capacity, and service/cost tradeoffs to prioritize purchase orders (POs) and transfers, recommend optimal port/DC landing and routing strategies, and drive timely resolution of exceptions. The planner partners closely with Supply Chain, DC Operations, Logistics, and Technology teams and routinely interfaces with Sr.-level Buyers/Merchants and executive stakeholders to communicate risks, scenarios, and recommendations. This position develops and maintains planning logic and requirements for system enhancements to improve planning accuracy, visibility, and execution outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Own PO and RTG transfer prioritization for assigned items, balancing customer service, DC capacity, lead times, and cost; translate priorities into executable shipment/arrival plans and system updates.
  • Partner with Buyers and Merchant teams to review forecasts, allocations, and item performance; identify supply risks and recommend actions to protect in-stock and delivery performance.
  • Prepare and deliver concise, executive-ready updates on supply status, constraints, and priority decisions; escalate material risks and recommend corrective actions to Sr. Buyers and executive stakeholders.
  • Analyze inbound purchase orders (import and domestic) and recommend the best port/DC landing and flow path for each PO (within established guidelines), including scenario-based tradeoffs across service, capacity, transit time, and cost; align recommendations with Sr.-level Buyers and Supply Chain leadership.
  • Drive follow-up on shortages and customer delivery exceptions (including Not in Stock/NIS) by investigating root causes, coordinating resolution with cross-functional partners, and documenting outcomes.
  • Support supply chain planning and execution improvement projects as needed. Support analytics and automation initiatives by providing planning inputs, validating outputs, and helping maintain standard work and user adoption of materials.
  • Maintain high data integrity in supply chain/planning systems and provide timely visibility to risks, constraints, and exceptions.
  • Participate in cross-training across core Supply Chain planning/execution functions and provide backup support as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, logistics, analytics, or related field preferred; associate's degree with relevant experience considered.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, basic data analysis), plus Microsoft Copilot, Word and PowerPoint.
  • With evolving technology, ability to independently work with raw data/data sets; extract, analyze, and manipulate data; and apply strong analytical judgment to identify solutions and take corrective action.
  • Experience working in an ERP/planning environment (e.g., order management, WMS/TMS, or planning tools) and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, maintain data accuracy, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communicator and collaborative team player, able to work independently, present to all levels of the organization, and handle sensitive information with discretion.
