BROOKSIDE COUNTRY CLUB

Seasonal Pool Manager
Early May – Labor Day | Seasonal Position
This Isn't Just Any Pool JobIf you love summer, love working with kids and families, and know how to build a team that actually enjoys coming to work — keep reading. Brookside Country Club is looking for a Pool Manager who understands that an exceptional summer experience isn't just for members. It's for the entire team living it every single day.
About Brookside Country ClubBrookside Country Club is a beloved private club in Canton, Ohio where families have been making summer memories for generations. Our aquatics program sits at the heart of that — a place where kids learn to swim, friendships are built on the pool deck, and every sunny day feels like it was made just for us. We take safety seriously, we take fun even more seriously, and we believe the best teams are the ones who genuinely love what they do.
The RoleWe're hiring a seasonal Pool Manager to lead our aquatics operation from early May through Labor Day. You'll oversee our main pool and wading pool, manage a team of 15 lifeguards, and serve up to 250 members and guests daily — with children and families at the center of everything you do.
This is a leadership role, but not the kind where you're barking orders from an office. You'll be out there with your team, setting the tone, building the culture, and making sure every single person — staff included — feels like this is the best job they've ever had.
What You'll Own- Build, hire, schedule, and lead a crew of 15 lifeguards who are as passionate about fun as they are about safety.
- Create a pool deck culture where staff feel valued, engaged, and genuinely excited to show up every day.
- Deliver a world-class experience for children and families — every visit, every day.
- Help the daily appointed Director of Fun organize activities, games, and events that keep kids engaged and families smiling.
- Coordinate swim team practices, home meets, and all related logistics.
- Oversee swim lesson programming that helps kids grow and builds lasting member loyalty.
- Maintain the highest safety standards across all aquatics operations at all times.
- Keep accurate records — certifications, incident reports, attendance, and daily operations.
- Report directly to the Clubhouse Manager.
- 3+ years of experience as a Pool Manager, Assistant Pool Manager, or Head Lifeguard
- CPO (Certified Pool Operator) certification — or the commitment to earn it before the season starts.
- Current lifeguard certification required.
- A natural leader who builds teams people want to be part of.
- Someone who lights up around kids and families and knows how to create moments that matter.
- Strong communication skills and a genuine hospitality mindset.
- Experience in hospitality, recreation, or private club operations is a plus — but passion and leadership matter most.
This isn't just a summer gig. It's a summer you'll talk about for years. At Brookside, we invest in our team, celebrate wins together, and build a pool deck culture where showing up feels like a privilege — not a chore. You'll lead a team that becomes a family, serve members who genuinely appreciate what you do, and spend your summer doing meaningful work in a place that truly feels like home.
Here's what that looks like day-to-day:
- Director of Fun — Each day, a team member is appointed as the Director of Fun, responsible for organizing activities, games, and events that keep kids engaged, families smiling, and the energy on the deck electric. As Pool Manager, you'll help develop and support that role so it runs like clockwork and becomes a signature part of the Brookside summer experience.
- Team Huddles & Shoutouts — Every shift starts with a quick team huddle. Safety reminders, yes — but also celebrating wins, recognizing great moments from the day before, and setting the tone for a great shift ahead.
- Staff Appreciation — We recognize our team. Whether it's a staff cookout, a surprise treat on a hot afternoon, or simply making sure every team member feels seen and valued, we make it a point to show our crew that great work doesn't go unnoticed.
- Skill Building — We invest in our people. From in-season training opportunities to supporting certifications, we want every team member walking away from this summer better than when they arrived.
- Friendly Competition — Cannonball contests, relay races, scavenger hunts — our team doesn't just facilitate the fun, they're part of it. We want a crew that can be professional when it counts and genuinely playful when the moment calls for it.
- A Culture Built on Belonging — Every staff member — whether it's their first summer or their fifth — should feel like they belong here. That starts at the top, and it starts with you.
- Seasonal position: Early May through Labor Day
- Competitive seasonal compensation (details provided upon interview)
