Responsibilities

What you will be doing:

Primary Duties

Strategic & Analytical Leadership:

  • Lead a team of analysts in performing predictive analytics, data mining, and statistical analysis.
  • Oversee the development of long-term power cost forecasts and financial models.
  • Assess new generation opportunities (build or buy) and support long-range generation planning.
  • Monitor and analyze gas hedging performance and contribute to corporate risk management.

Operational Oversight:

  • Validate monthly power supply invoices and ensure accuracy in billing and reconciliation.
  • Aggregate and analyze financial results (monthly, quarterly, annually) and report variances.
  • Review plant characteristics and optimize economic dispatch.
  • Provide daily updates on system loads, gas prices, and other operational metrics.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

  • Coordinate integration of metering, billing, and financial data for budgeting and forecasting.
  • Support creation of short- and long-term power cost budgets.
  • Deliver monthly budget variance reports to finance and leadership teams.

Regulatory & Compliance:

  • Support the filing of state and federal regulatory documents.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate standards, safety protocols, and disaster procedures.

Rate Design & Modeling:

  • Develop and manage rate models and rate optimization tools.
  • Create innovative rate designs aligned with corporate goals and member needs.

Team & Talent Management:

  • Manage all aspects of employment for corporate analysts (hiring, training, performance).
  • Develop and implement training and development plans.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, equity, and continuous improvement.

Leadership

  • Manage all aspects of employment for subordinate staff, including hiring, promotion, training and termination.
  • Review and approve training and development plan for all department personnel.
  • Appropriately document actions, as needed, in Halogen.
  • Promote Our Way Culture
  • Coaching and directing through direct interaction with subordinates.
  • Analyze and prioritize, as needed, daily workload and schedules.
  • Develop training and development plan for Corporate Analysts.
  • Complete period checkpoints with Corporate Analysts to measure achievement towards goals.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics or related field. .

Minimum eight (8) years’ working experience in utility generation planning, financial forecasting, rate design, production cost modeling, budgeting, planning, forecasting, data mining, business intelligence or equivalent experience.

Working experience in generation planning forecasting, power system operations, rate analysis, production cost modeling and analysis and electric utility rate design.

Minimum two (2) years’ supervisory experience in leading a team.

SKILLS:

Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, such as the ability to handle, interpret and translate studies of numbers and data.

Strong knowledge of data analysis and modeling tools (Excel, SAS, etc.) to ensure model integrity, build modifications and apply the models to business decisions.

Proficiency with personal computers including Microsoft Windows, Excel, Power Point, and other data analysis and visualization tools.

Ability to interpret data and relate it to the company or process goals.

Distinctive people skills, strong team-orientation, and a professional attitude.

Ability to appropriately manage confidential information.

Skills to successfully lead others to task and goal completion.

PREFERRED:

Master’s degree in business administration, Engineering or related field.

Knowledge of electric and gas markets.

Familiarity with DERMS and DER Programs.
