Our firm is currently looking for a dedicated Energy Management Systems (EMS) Technician located in the downtown Los Angeles area. This position will have a focus on HVAC and related energy systems for a large educational facility construction program. This is a great opportunity to be part of one of the largest school bond programs in the country.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The EMS Technician will perform field work to help maintain the school district HVAC Direct Digital Controls (DDC) and Energy Management Systems (EMS).
The EMS Technician will work with the school district's technical quality support team (TQST) to repair and maintain the HVAC DDC front end EMS and use them to encourage preventive
maintenance, identify potential energy conservation measures, and suggest facility improvements.Assist with HVAC Controls Design and Submittal reviews.
Assist in reviewing utility data and energy usage to identify schools for recommissioning and retro commissioning.
Assist in reviewing EMS and energy data, and alarms to identify no cost/low-cost energy conservation measures.
Assist in the review of EMS, energy data, and alarms to identify preventive maintenance measures.
Perform site visits to investigate and evaluate EMS/DDC conditions on identified projects.
Scope out and implement low-cost to no-cost solutions or alternatives to projects/repairs of EMS systems at existing school sites..
Respond to trouble calls, calibrate systems, and troubleshoot and resolve basic electrical and DDC problems.
Assist in managing In-House Commissioning Projects.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s or associate degree in engineering (mechanical, computer science, electrical, information technology); OR a two-year technical degree in HVAC, Electronics-related studies with additional 2 years of experience to compensate for education on a year-for-year basis.
A minimum of 3 years of professional experience as an HVAC DDC technician.
Understanding of computer networking principles, including configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Ability to wire, start up, and troubleshoot basic HVAC DDC maintenance issues.
Fundamental understanding of HVAC operations within a facility.
Additional Preferred Experience:
Experience working with multiple DDC manufacturers including Automated Logic, Carrier, Delta, Distech, Schneider Electric, or Trane.
Proven ability to debug installation issues during both static and dynamic start-up phases.
Experience supporting installation personnel and other contractors on project sites.
Extensive experience in performing or assisting in performance of commissioning of EMS.

The salary range for this full-time role is $84,400.00-$112,533.35 per year. Ranges are determined based on the position, geography, client and industry experience and level, and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range reflects base salary only, and not the total compensation package.
