Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Job description:
Southern Oregon Orthopedics, Inc. has an excellent opportunity for a qualified individual to join the Team as a part-time receptionist/registrar. Skills of the ideal candidate include: prior experience as a receptionist in a medical office, computer skills, be self-motivated, able to multi-task and enjoy working in a team environment. EPIC experience a plus. The hours are Mon - Fri, variable.'
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greet patients during check in process. This process includes for new patients: Verifying all demographic information in computer, input proper insurance information for billing purposes, scan insurance cards(s) and photo ID, take patient’s photo, call or check on insurance benefits online – enter into account, collect co-pays when appropriate.
- Check in for returning patients by verifying patient’s address and phone number, verify insurance, document any changes in computer if necessary, confirm reason for patient visit, collect co-pay when appropriate, properly direct patients where they need to go.
- OHP: Confirm plan and eligibility, check for and request authorization if necessary.
- Print reports when needed ie: batch, add-ons (fee slips) etc.
- Collect money when required for completion of forms.
- Receive any and all payments over the counter.
- Direct walk-ins to appropriate staff member or schedule appointments as appropriate.
- Answer patient’s nonmedical questions, or direct patient to appropriate department as necessary.
- Assist with char prep
- Check out patients by scheduling follow up appointments, decline/print patient care summary as requested, and collect copay or percentage as appropriate.
- Monitor reception area for patients who seem to have been there an unreasonable length of time. Monitor Doctor’s schedule to see if they are running behind. Make announcements as necessary. Monitor area for any safety hazards or untidiness.
- Take messages as needed and send to medical clinic via e-mail or messaging pool.
- Verify all cancellations and failed appointments (DNKA=did not keep appointment).
- Balance cash box/closing duties.
- Attend required office meetings and participate in committees as required.
- Expand job related knowledge and skills to improve performance and adjust to change.

Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.
