About This Position

The Assistant Director of Residential Services is responsible for ensuring that people residing at Opengate are able to live life to the fullest, with quality person-centered care and services appropriate to their needs. The Assistant Director oversees the day-to-day operations of assigned residences. This may include the provision of supervision to residential and day program employees, and the managers they report to.

Inspiring a positive, collaborative and inclusive team environment, the Assistant Director provides leadership through example that encourages management to emulate positivity, provide supportive leadership for staff, as well as foster self-advocacy and nurture natural supports for our residents. This role plays an integral part in developing and maintaining the highest regulatory and quality standards that ensure the people who reside at Opengate experience the highest quality of life.

Essential Job Functions

  • Ensure that people residing/receiving services at Opengate receive appropriate care, qualitative programming, adequate clothing and ADL supplies and adequate health and medical attention, as necessary.
  • Participate in the hiring, development, evaluation and disciplinary process.
  • Responsible for the supervision and training of employees in assigned residences.
  • Ensure that residential managers/supervisors are knowledgeable in compliance requirements, health & safety issues, and building codes.
  • Monitor and adhere to established budget guidelines.
  • Ensure that facilities, furnishings and vehicles are maintained and that maintenance needs are reported and followed up on.
  • Perform administrative oversight of resident income and banking to ensure that funds belonging to the people receiving support are maintained and used appropriately, according to approved guidelines and standards.
  • Interact with professional staff to coordinate services provided to people receiving support.
  • Develop positive rapports and interact with the families and advocates of people receiving support.
  • Attend and participate in assigned meetings as required.
  • Develop community partnerships that foster substantive opportunities that enhance quality of life for residents.
  • Adhere to and ensure conformity with federal, state and local governmental regulatory guidelines pertaining to a safe, healthy and clean work environment, reporting health and safety concerns to the Quality Improvement Coordinator.
  • Participates in development of plans of corrective action.
  • Responsible for ensuring operational continuity, including providing acting coverage for absences and vacancies.
  • Provide support across all shifts, ensuring onsite presence outside of 9 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday business hours.
  • Participates in the Administrator-On-Call rotation.
  • Accessible 24/7 for support and crisis intervention.
  • Reports any issues, concerns or significant observations to the Director of Residential Operations or Chief Operating Officer.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in the field of Human Services.
  • Five or more years of experience managing a team.
  • Minimum experience of 2 years working with I/DD population.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have good interpersonal and writing skills.
  • Working knowledge of EHR and LMS systems preferred
  • Must have computer skills, including Microsoft Office

Physical Requirements

  • This position is a non-sedentary role that requires frequent periods of standing and walking.
  • Able to lift 50 or more pounds. The ability to turn, lift and assist people receiving services with movement.

Salary - $80,000 - $90,000. Compensation will be commensurate with job qualifications and work experience.
