City of Summit Offering Paid Internships for Summer 2026

SUMMIT, NJ, March 2, 2026 – The City of Summit is continuing its successful college internship program for the seventeenth year. Applications from Summit residents will be accepted beginning Monday, March 2, 2026.

College students majoring in political science, public administration, human resources management, finance, or communications are encouraged to apply for the program. Participants will be able to add significant project management experience to their resumes. Interns will be paid $16 hourly and are required to work 24 hours per week, Monday through Thursday, from June 1 - June 26, 2026.

Alumni of the City of Summit internship program have secured positions in the White House internship program and with the US State Department, as well as paid positions at Google, Tesla Motors, US Institute of Peace, and Goldman Sachs.

“I enthusiastically encourage our young residents to apply to the program,” explains Summit Mayor Elizabeth Fagan, MD. “It is an exciting opportunity to work closely with city staff members, be directly involved in several important municipal projects and get useful professional work experience.”
