About This Position
The Director, Perioperative Services, provides clinical leadership and direction for the surgical service line in collaboration with the Chief of Surgery and surgical leadership.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ensures that team members promote an environment conducive and responsive to patient care based on current nursing research, evidence-based practice, and nationally recognized professional standards.
- Has 24-hour accountability and responsibility for coordinating and evaluating the provision of patient care and providing leadership and direction for employees.
- Recruits, trains and supervises clinical staff; initiating orientation, ongoing education and performance evaluations, and encouraging professional development.
- Recognizes, coaches, encourages and holds team members accountable to individual and team performance.
- Establishes and maintains positive physician relationships, works with physicians to meet key quality/core measure benchmarks.
- Responds to customer concerns and assures follow-up from appropriate individuals.
- Establishes and enforces policies and protocols to promote best practice and ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.
- Ensures compliance with established patient safety standards and evidence-based safety initiatives.
- Collaborates with enterprise leadership to achieve quality patient outcomes and seamless continuity of care.
- Provides consultation to relevant task forces, quality action teams and committees to ensure ongoing compliance with system-wide standards.
- Manages clinical budget to monitor expenses and identify opportunities for cost-effective service delivery.
Experience:
Seven years’ surgical experience, at least three in a supervisory or executive capacity required.
