About This Position
The Senior Accountant will be primarily responsible for overseeing the monthly closing process, general ledger accounting and reconciliations, preparing financial reports, fixed assets, cash management and coordination of tax filings as well as ad-hoc projects. This is a full-time exempt position in our downtown Kalamazoo office.
RESPONSIBILITIESGeneral ledger and monthly closing, including journal entries and account reconciliations. Leader of preparation of year-end financial information provided to outside tax firm.
Oversight of AR including invoicing, processing of cash receipts and reconciliation of AR accounts.
Financial reporting including preparation of financial reports from various business systems and consolidation of business financial results. Analysis of financial reports and business metrics for management.
Cash reporting and management including preparation of bank reconciliations, regular cash forecasting and tracking of expenditures versus forecast.
Fixed assets including periodic physical audits, additions, disposals, depreciation, capital project reporting and reconciliation, capital budgeting and reporting of spending versus budget.
Budgets including assistance with forecasting, budget preparation with operations management, summarization.
Tax filings for non-income taxes including personal property taxes, sales and use taxes, etc. Internal controls and process documentation with a focus on improvements.
Assist finance leadership with special projects and ad-hoc requests.
QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in Accounting and a minimum of 5 years of accounting experience (or equivalent education and experience) required. CPA/CMA or actively working toward certification (preferred). Proficiency in MS Office environment required.
Experience with accounting for multiple entities and accounting systems.
Knowledge of accounting principles and standards applicable to internal controls (SOX) as well as experience with financial reporting.
