About This Position
Key Responsibilities
- Measure and mark surfaces to determine layout of ceiling systems
- Install metal framing (grid systems) suspended from ceilings
- Cut and fit ceiling tiles or panels (acoustic, fiberglass, or wood)
- Install lighting fixtures, vents, and diffusers into ceiling systems
- Repair or replace damaged ceiling tiles or grid components
- Ensure ceilings are level, secure, and aligned properly
- Follow blueprints, building plans, and safety regulations
- Work with other trades (electricians, HVAC, etc.) to coordinate installations
- Basic knowledge of construction tools and materials
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
- Strong measuring and math skills
- Manual dexterity and attention to detail
- Physical stamina (lifting, climbing ladders, overhead work)
- Knowledge of safety procedures (OSHA guidelines)
- High school diploma or GED (typically required)
- On-the-job training or apprenticeship preferred
- Prior construction or carpentry experience is a plus
