Lab Technician Histology at Waterbury Hospital – Waterbury, Connecticut

Perform all technical duties of slide preparation; processing, embedding, cutting, staining and cover slipping for Pathology review. Responsible for slide preparation of frozen sections and all functions in the OR Lab. Responsible for the proper service to the patient population which includes: neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult, and older adult. This position reports to the Support Service Manager. • Receive and process gross surgical specimens according to established and written procedures.
• Cut, stain, mount and label slides according to defined techniques.
• Re-cut additional sections; perform stain as directed by the Team Leader, manager or pathologist.
• Prepare frozen sections for pathologists and keep OR lab supplied
• File and retrieve blocks and slides as necessary.

Requirements: • HT (ASCP) certification or HLT (ASCP) certification
• Successful completion of accredited Histotechnology program
• High School graduate
• Accurate and precise histological technical skills.
• Have good manual dexterity/good visual skills.
• Ability to work in fast paced environment including off site OR Lab.
