About This Position

Patient Registration Education Specialist

  • DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
    • This role is accountable to provide registration and insurance training for new employees, refresher courses for existing staff, and ongoing training to meet goals developed by Management. Serves as the primary liason for insurance verification. Creates and presents Monthly Registration Meeting education as well as New Hire Registration and Insurance Training to all acute registration staff throughout Berkshire Health Systems.

  • POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)
    • Experience:
      • Registration experience required.
      • Knowledge of Meditech Expanse Registration Management Desktop module required.
      • Previous registration experience.
      • Experience with group leadership and facilitation preferred.
    • Education and Training:
      • Two years of college in a business, IT or healthcare related course of study required. Additional relevant Previous Admitting experience may be substituted for educational requirement.
    • License, Certification & Registration:
      • None
    • Other Requirements:
      • Evidence of strong computer skills required.
      • Previous experience with automated registration and/or billing computer systems required.
      • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, and interpersonal relationship skills are required.
      • Proven organizational skills.
      • Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and rationally and work under deadline pressures. Willing to accept additional responsibilities/duties as position requires.
      • Must be self motivated and able to work with a lot of autonomy, possessing skills in problem solving.
      • Previous experience with teaching/training preferred.
      • Will be required to work weekends/evenings as required for training of staff assigned to those shifts.
