About This Position
Position Summary:
The Visitor Center Front Desk Staff serves as the first point of contact for guests, providing a welcoming experience and helpful information about local attractions, events, and services. This role supports tourism efforts by promoting the area and ensuring visitors have a positive and informative experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet visitors in a friendly, professional manner
Provide information on local attractions, accommodations, dining, and events
Distribute maps, brochures, and promotional materials
Answer phone calls and respond to general inquiries on events and geographic
Assist with directions and travel planning while in Dorchester
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the front desk and visitor areas
Operate point-of-sale system for merchandise (if applicable)
Track visitor data and assist with reporting as needed
Qualifications:
Strong communication and customer service skills
Knowledge of the local area (or willingness to learn)
Basic computer skills
Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Friendly, outgoing, and professional demeanor
Schedule & Requirements:
Must be available to work weekends and holidays as needed
Ability to stand for extended periods
May work shifts alone
